So I’m doing something I’ve never imagined myself doing.
Let me start from the beginning.
You might not want to read this much, but it’s good for my head.
I met Reuben Cade my freshman year of high school.
I only dated him because I was 14 and desperate for a “relationship” that
everyone else had except for me.
Two weeks later, I broke up with him on a piece of paper ripped out of
a composition book.
A week after that he decided to move back to West Virginia to live with his
mom and sister, and told me that I was the only reason he stayed in North
Carolina as long as he did.
We kept in touch through Facebook. And eventually Xbox LIVE.
Late December ‘09, I spent all night on Xbox talking to him and his WV friends
for two weeks straight during Christmas break.
One of those friends was Tony Kitzmiller.
Ben and Tony were good friends. They knew each other through Ben’s sister’s
boyfriend. One day Tony went with Trevor to pick up Ben’s sister to go
somewhere. While Tony waited for Trevor, he sat beside Ben and watched him
play Xbox with me. He asked who I was, and asked Ben how he knew me, and
Ben told him the story I listed above. Later that night Tony joined our game.
It was Ben, Derek, Deshawn and me. We were playing Free-for-All on Karachi,
I remember.
I hated Tony because he killed me several times and made nasty remarks
because I was a girl on Xbox.
Every time he joined a game, I left.
But I got a friend request from him and accepted it for some reason.
We played a couple games together, he added me on Facebook, texted me,
called me, etc.
We liked each other a lot eventually.
Started /dating/ on December 22nd.
It sounds a little ridiculous dating someone so far away.
Technically it’s only 7 hours, but still.
Especially when you’ve never met them and everyone calls you an idiot
for it.
You call it stupid until it happens to you. At least, for me anyway.
I thought long distance was pointless, until it happened to me.
Now it’s June 6th.
We’ve talked literally every day since then.
He’ll be staying here for 2 weeks or longer on June 30th.
I’m excited.
I never pictured myself meeting someone over the internet.
It’s a little different because we met each other through someone
we both know in REAL LIFE.
It almost seems like you’re meeting a celebrity. Kinda stupid, I know.
At least for me it does.
I guess because you know all of their friends, and they know
all of yours, and the fact that those people get to see you every day
and the person you’re dating doesn’t.
So I guess that’s the story of me and Tony.
I’m terrified and excited and nervous all at the same time.
And I love him (:
